Solaire Shines Brightly In The Grilling World

By Mike Pit

Solaire grills, believe it or not, have their roots with Rasmus Rasmussen, a Danish immigrant who founded a blacksmith shop in 1907, now known as Rasmussen Iron Works, Inc. Whittier, California was now in the grilling game.

Over the years Rasmussen had to change with the times. He began building high end fireplace accessories. During WWII he produced handles for welding rods. He even manufactured steel buildings and parts for truck bodies.

Eventually, his son Ted opened a store selling gas fireplace logs. He then invented the sand pan burner that allowed consumers to have a real looking flame from a gas log. While perfecting this, he had to invent the molds and processes that went along with the manufacturing of them. The 4th generation of Rasmussens now carry the torch manufacturing gas log heaters, and modern gas fireplaces in various shapes, like stones and balls. They also manufacture Solaire Infrared Grills.

Infrared is best for grilling with the Solaire line because the Rasmussen family and company have duplicated the open flame, the oldest form of cooking known to man. The redder a flame, the more infrared spectrum is being produced by the flame. With infrared moisture is retained within the food, making it succulent and flavor-tight. Molecules are excited within the food that you are preparing, allowing the friction from this movement to produce the heat. This is an even, radiant, heat over the entire cooking surface, with no hot spots or flare-ups to worry about. In a fraction of the time it takes to cook over a regular charcoal grill, you can have a complete meal prepared and ready to eat with your friends or family.

A few of the standard items that are included with every Solaire grill are listed below. Stainless steel main burners and ceramic infrared U burners. Rapid start ignition Welded, with no mechanical fasteners Hand-polished mirror finish accents Doors allowing for inside storage Side shelves Removable warming rack and drip tray

One of the models is the Solaire Anywhere, the portable version that you can take, well, anywhere. This model comes with adjustable feet in place of folding legs that you may find on other brands. No grease will run out of the grill, as it is airtight. Rasmussen offers a mounting kit so that you can adapt it to any environment you take the grill to. The consumer can access the rear of the grill, pop the burners out, and increase ventilation with the rear louvers. A carrying bag aids you in transportation.

Of course, the larger grills are what it's all about, ranging in size from 27" to 56". They operate with a large temperature range for cooking just about anything. One model even boasts a refrigerator.

Solaire grills use wavelength engineering to directly apply infrared energy. This is more effective than traditional infrared grills.

You can find these fine models at locations that include Northline Express, Sports Imports, Aqua Superstore, and Amazon.
