1. To edit something from iMovie in Final Cut, it's just a few simple steps; first, make sure your project is saved. Now, highlight the project (from the Project Library). Click on Share - Export Final Cut XML- you will need to select where you want to save it. Go back to Final Cut and go to FILE - IMPORT - FCP XML from iMovie.
2. When importing outside files, it may be necessary to render them. At the top of the Timeline, a red bar may appear. To render a segment, select IN and OUT on your Timeline, then go to Sequence - Render, Render All, or Render Only. By previewing in the canvas, you will be able to figure out if you need to render video or audio.
3. To import an image, simply go to File - Import - Files and it can be added using the following options: Insert, Insert with transition, Overwrite, Overwrite with transition, Replace, Fit to Fill, or Superimpose.
4. If you want to adjust volume levels, all you need to do is click the mountain looking button at the bottom left hand corner of the Time line. When you do that, lines will appear through the middle of all the bars. Drag the line up or down to adjust the volume.
5. If you want to change the size of the bars in your Timeline, click on the button in the bottom left hand corner of your Timeline that looks like four bars. If you want to add a track, right click in the left hand section of the Timeline, and you can Add Track, Delete Track, or Reset Panel.
6. As a final point, keep track of what you mute, and lock and unlock!
