According to a lot of experts the world is struggling hard to maintain at the standard that we are used to. The pollution in its different forms is tearing the nature apart, and introducing higher densities of certain chemicals than nature can handle on its own. What can we do to reverse this problem?
We might be small and unimportant when considering the big picture, but if we could all realize that we need to start with the small things this planet would surely have a much brighter future. Now, why is furniture such an important part of preserving the environment?
One of the resources that we on this planet have the most of is wood. Wood is a material that is easily made into usable objects, such as furniture. While furniture is of course also made from other materials, wood is by far the most used. In nature wood plays a vital role as both a protector of plant and animal life in the forests and as a contributor to the making oxygen out of CO2 process.
As we all know, oxygen plays a huge role on this planet, it is the stuff that we breathe. Even worse, it is the stuff that every living creature breathes. However, at the moment our biggest concern isn't the lack of oxygen, we still have plenty of it.
The biggest problem is that when the forests are chopped down, less CO2 is transformed. The CO2 is one of the gases that make out atmosphere gradually get weaker. Why is this a problem? Because it leads to global warming. I guess most of you know that global warming isnt a good thing.
We may not be able to save the world with eco friendly furniture, but we will be well on our way. It is a good place to start because it is such an easy thing too implement in our daily life. Eco friendly furniture refers to furniture produced by either forests that are well preserved or recycled furniture.
What is a well preserved forest? How would you do it you were told to gather a thousand trees from one forest? Would you do it as almost everyone else, with starting on one side of the forest and just chopping your way through? Or would you take out a single tree here and a single there? The latter method is far better for the forest for two reasons. Firstly the trees have a much better chance of growing back when they still have all the other protecting trees around it. Secondly, all other life in the forest will not be as affected.
Reusing wood is another great, perhaps even greater way of taking care of our much loved nature. Take a trip to your local garbage place, and I bet that you will find tons of old furniture there. A lot of it is just a little eco friendly paint away from being as good as new. Why are we using this gold mine as little as we do?
The answer is quite complicated and consists of a lot of factors. In it's essence though, it really boils down to one thing, being lazy. In this modern age we have all the luxury we could ever ask for right in front of us, and that leads to us being lazy and taking the easy path to whatever we are doing. If you don't believe me, just ask yourself this question, if you needed a new table, would you fix the old one or buy a new one?
