Health insurance - Never go without!

By Jeff Cline

Not too many can understand the financial damage going without health insurance can cause a person if the unforeseen should happen. An unexpected illness or accident can happen to anybody and anytime. Even to the most healthy individuals. For this reason health insurance should be a necessity for your family.

It is a tragedy that so many people go without health insurance simply because they can not afford it. There is no need insurance companies have many plans for all different budgets. Most carriers have a low cost saver kind of plan. These plans protect you from financial ruin due to a major illness, but still remain very affordable.

If you are only temporary going to have a loss of coverage you should purchase short term health insurance. Short Term health insurance usually has deductibles from $250 - $7500. It doesn't typically cover routine stuff, but will cover the big stuff. If you need to keep cost down go with a higher premium.

If you are more interested in a plan that has co pays for doctor visits just incase you get the current virus floating around the office then you should look into a PPO plan. A PPO has a bit higher premium, but you can still go for a higher deductible to keep premium down. They also have various plans depending on what you need.

Another cool type of plan is the HSA (Health Savings Account). This kind of plan allows you to contribute money to the account to use for medical expenses. And it is all non taxable. These plans usually have high deductibles and only a few have routine visits.

Accident policies are policies that help counter act the cost of an accident. These policies pay you a defined amount of money depending on the medical condition. For example, if you go to the doctor for a cut, they will send you $50 to help offset the cost you encountered.

You should shop around the internet to find a plan that will fit your needs and your budget. Carriers have many plans to choose from. Do not think just because you are healthy you do not need to worry about getting coverage. The fact is you could be affected in a costly way for thinking like that.

Most importantly it is important to have some sort of health insurance rather than none at all. Even if you go for the economy plan it can potentially save you a lot of money and stress. With just a little research either by yourself or the help of a broker you can find something that will work for you.
