Good Source of Calcium and Magnesium

By Amanda Somrekli

Magnesium Supplements and the Benefits of Magnesium:As the fourth most abundant mineral in the body, magnesium is essential to your good health. Approximately half of your total body magnesium is found in your bones and the other half is distributed throughout cells of your body tissues and organs.

This critical mineral is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in your body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps your heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps your bones strong.

It is important to know the advantages and the results that can be interpreted from magnesium deficiency tests. Once you receive your magnesium deficiency test, forward the test results to your doctor so he can readily interpret the causes of your magnesium levels.

Then there are supplements that have herbal properties such as grape seeds that contain proantocyanidins, which is an antioxidant that is up to fifty times more potent than vitamin C or E.

Natural health supplements and vitamins can be used not only to promote good health but also to combat things like allergies. They are also combatants against bone loss, the effects of aging and other health concerns.

There is evidence that some vitamins and other natural health compounds are absorbed and used more efficiently by the body when taken together. One of these is calcium; when it is taken with vitamin D and Magnesium it is absorbed into the body better and works more efficiently.

Dairy products are rich and direct sources of calcium but beans like rajma, leafy vegetables like spinach contain calcium. However, the absorption rate of calcium from spinach and beans is only one tenth of 100. So it is better that calcium is obtained through direct sources.

Also, reduce fats, high intake of Vitamin D, alcohol consumption since they result in depletion of magnesium content in your body. Reduce the intake of oxalic acids and proteins from any kind of meat as they too reduce the content of magnesium content in your body.

The common conditions resulting from magnesium deficiency are valve prolapsed, migraine, attention deficit disorder, asthma, and allergies. Other symptoms of magnesium deficiency include muscle weakness, twitching, cramping, confusion, and cardiac arrhythmia.

Routine magnesium intake also improves the functions of your bones and muscles. It is a known nutritional cure for stiff muscles. Therefore, magnesium is especially beneficial for active individuals who love physically strenuous activities.
