4 Methods Used TO Cheat Casinos

By Simon M Skinner

Here's a fact that I am sure you know - Casinos don't like cheaters very much, they are more than willing to make a cheater's life miserable if they find you trying to take their money by cheating.

When it comes to fraud or felony charges, you will only get into real trouble if you use and electronic aid or a similar device to try and cheat and steal money from casinos.

Card counting is not considered a crime, and it's left up to the casino whether or not to ban such a talented person. Rest assured, most casinos will not allow it and may make it seem like a greater offense than it is.

Casino security departments and their guards can be rather unpleasant cheating is certainly not recommended, however here are 4 tip on how people sometimes cheat casinos.

1. Card Counting in Blackjack There is a classic method known as 'hi-lo' and it works like this - WHen the cards are shuffled and dealt the player starts at 0. For every ace, 10 or face card that is dealt you take 1 point away from the total. For every 2-6 that is dealt you add a point to the total. Cards that are 7, 8 or 9 are zero points. Before each hand divide your count by the number of decks that are left. The time to bet is when you get a total of +2. Word of warning, try not to move your lips as you count the cards or the casinos may catch onto the fact that you are counting cards!

2.Marking in Poker poker is an easier game to "rig" since you will often play against human opponents. Marking cards involves marking the back-end of cards through a variety of methods including blocking out parts of the card, shading parts of the card or scratching it. Then the player will either use special contact lenses or sunglasses to see the alteration, or may be able to read the marks with his own eye.

3.Craps - Dicing with the dice. Craps is a game of rolling dice and betting on the outcome of the throw. SOmeone looking to cheat at craps may slip 'altered dice' into the came. These dice may be rounded on one side or weighted differnetly than normal dice in order to increase the odds of a high number. A player may also try to manipulate the dice throw by placing the desired number face up in the palm of their hand and then throwing the dice in such a way that there is more chance that the dice will land with the desired number showing. Casinos are obviously aware of this technique and are on the look out for it so be careful.

4.Slots - Outsmarting the Machines Slots technology is improving all the time but some of the older machines are susceptible to the 'fake quarter' method of cheating. Basically you need to find a substitute for the quarters provided by the casino, these substitutes should be the same weight size and density as the real thing in order to be sure of cheating the slots. Another tried and tested method is the 'quarter on a string' trick where a cheater deposits the quarter into the machine and then quickly takes it out with the string but fooling the slot machine into thinking that they have placed a bet.
